Chat with the people around you.

Kiwi is a chat app for the people nearby: over Bluetooth when there is no signal, and in public rooms for the places you are in.

Coming to the App Store for iPhone

Needs iOS 26 or later.

What it does

Nearby, without the internet

Phones talk to each other over Bluetooth and pass messages along, so a crowd can chat at a festival, on a hike or in a blackout. Private messages between people nearby are end-to-end encrypted.

Rooms for places

Join a public room for your neighbourhood, city or region, or type in any place. No account, no phone number, no email.

Busy rooms that stay readable

Pick how much you read in each room: Mentions only, Filtered or Everything. Repeats fold up, strangers' links wait for your say-so, and nothing is ever deleted.

Translated as you read

Messages in other languages are translated on your phone with Apple's on-device translation. Nothing is sent anywhere to be translated.

Replies you can't miss

Replies and mentions are highlighted and collected in a Notifications tab. Tap one to go straight to that room.

Yours to tidy

Mute or hide anyone, hold the list still while you scroll back through a busy room, choose your own app icon, and wipe everything in one step.

Private by design

There are no accounts and Kiwi has no servers of its own. It has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. Your keys and messages live on your phone, and a panic wipe erases them in one step.

Public rooms really are public, so what you post there can be read by anyone in the room and may be kept by others. Read the privacy policy and the community rules.
